When we say files are deleted after conversion, we mean MultiDecode is not building a user-facing archive of uploads. You convert, you download, the working data is discarded. There is no “my conversions” library and no account required to retrieve yesterday’s file from us.
What still happens (and should)
- The file crosses the network over HTTPS while you upload
- Servers process the bytes to produce the output format
- Standard operational logs (for reliability and abuse prevention) may exist without storing your file contents as a product feature
- Your browser holds the download until you save it
What we are not claiming
Ephemeral conversion is not a substitute for DLP, CASB, classification, or legal hold. If a document must never leave a VDI image, do not upload it — approved or not. If you need a retention trail, keep it in SharePoint, a ticket, or another system of record.
Why this model fits “approved utility”
IT usually wants fewer places where work files accumulate. A converter that forgets by design is easier to bless than a free site that quietly keeps copies “for your convenience.”
Employee talking points
- Use the approved MultiDecode URL
- Do not create accounts on random converters
- Save outputs into company storage when history matters
- Ask security before uploading regulated or highly sensitive sets
